WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST IRISH DANCE CLASS

Once you have enrolled with us or signed up for your free trial lesson, you may wonder what comes next. Here are a few helpful tips:

  • You will be asked to fill out a simple online registration form before your first class.

  • There is no uniform, but children are encouraged to wear stretchy, comfortable clothing such as shorts, leggings, t-shirts or singlets. No denim.

  • Hair should be neat, tidy and kept out of the eyes.

  • There is no need to purchase new dancing shoes right away - light sneakers will suffice for the trial lesson. No flip-flops, thongs or sandals. We have a small pool of secondhand shoes which can be purchased once your child has committed to Irish dancing.

  • Please bring a water bottle to each lesson.

  • No food is to be brought into the studio.

  • Parents must wait outside during the class. There is a waiting area that has a view into the studio, but parents are encouraged not to watch from the doorway as it is a distraction for the children.

Lastly, we aim to create a fun, safe and friendly environment for our students. Irish dancing can have an enormous impact on a child’s life — boosting confidence, improving coordination and teaching the benefits of hard work. But by far the greatest thing about Irish dancing is the lifelong friendships made, both for children and parents.
